The Resounding Yes | #TheAbereLoveStory

On Sunday, July 20th, 2014, I re-dedicated my life to Christ, was baptized, and said "YES" to a lifetime of following Christ. On this day, I pledged my entire heart to my first and greatest love, my Groom, and Savior. Since that moment, I have had to assess every step and action I take to ensure that it aligns with the promises I made on that scorching, Atlanta day. It hasn't always been an easy ride since then. I have slipped here and there and yet, Christ was (and still is) there to love me and pick me up.

“The right one can’t be forced or rushed.. it is an intelligently calculated determination from heaven - a divine occurrence and it is worth the wait. Don’t ever settle - rest in God’s timing.”

On Sunday May 13th, 2018, I said yes to the love of my life and longtime best friend. Similarly, he's seen me at my worst and yet, was there to love me and pick me up. I realized that in my resounding yes to the Lord, I had already said yes, by faith, to whichever man of God He had prepared for me. Imagine my surprise when 4 years after saying yes to the Lord, I was saying yes to my best friend lol.

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”

— James 1:17

As believers, we cannot accept any blessing the Lord has for us without first saying yes to the Giver of the Gift. We all have physical gifts that, at some point, inadvertently did not fulfill their intended purpose – ie: the purse that contains junk and the fancy sneakers that get worn anyhow (I read that twice and somehow it still sounds so Nigerian lol). The intent of every gift of God (every literally means every: job, car, spouse, breath of life, money, the list goes on...) is to draw those that see the gift unto Himself. Any other use of such gifts undermine God's initial intent.

I hope to use this moment as a chance to remind everyone, myself included, that Godly gifts are not for our sole enjoyment. #ThereIsMore. Think about those blessings that you prayed SOOOO hard for. Are we really fulfilling the purpose of God giving it to us?

After exactly 365 days of courting, I said yes to one of my favorite blessings and gifts. That day was filled with "WOWWWWS," tears, hugs, smiles, and prayer. Needless to say, I am overjoyed. I want to thank every single soul that congratulated us via texts, phone calls, Facebook, Snapchat, What's App, Instagram, and everything in-between. We were literally overwhelmed with love and prayers and we couldn't have asked for a better community of friends and family. As we begin what will be a forever journey, we ask that you continue to lift us up in prayer, that we too, may always say "Yes" to the Best Gift-Giver of them All – Christ.

With all of that being said.... YA GIRL'S GETTING MARRIEDDDDDD TO THE BEST MAN EVER!
