Growing up, one of my pet peeves was still being told “HAPPY NEW YEAR!” three, even four weeks into January. It seemed to me that this was just a Nigerian way of greeting lol. According to my mom, saying Happy New Year is befitting if it’s the first time you’re seeing or speaking to someone in the year. So.. moms are never wrong, right? lol. As the first official post in 2019, I must say Happy New Year to each of my readers. Shout out to every single subscriber - new and old - that continues to come along for the ATBM ride.
The word of today is Transparency. It’s been 3 months since my last post and here we are. A whole 3 months. In the last 3 months, I completed my first semester of my Master’s in Nursing at Emory and started my 2nd, began my job as a Labor and Delivery nurse, and have been planning, alongside my handsome fiancé, an entire wedding. The days honestly just fly by. And to be quite frank, I’m tired lol. In wanting to provide the best content possible, I consistently found a reason to push back writing and posting.
“How can I write a post without photos?”
“I haven’t even done any artsy, creative stuff lately.”
“My readers have probably moved along by now.”
“I said I’d post once a month…..lol”
Between the 292181290 activities and the ever mounting to-do list, blogging just didn’t make the cut and it sucked. Not because I didn’t want to but because I had to learn that I’m not a super woman. Often times, we try to fit a billion things in one day and we beat ourselves up when we don’t accomplish them.
Yes, this is a post without photos. However, it is a post that is pushing me towards consistency. It’s a post that holds me accountable to the thing that I love the most- writing and interacting (albeit virtually) with people. Do not give up on that which you love. The circumstances may not be right… but then again, when will they ever be 100% right? Do what you love without thinking twice about it. Follow through with your goals, aspirations, and plans. They’re so worth it.
My birthday is Saturday and I’m beginning to get excited! Want to celebrate with me? On 2/2, share your favorite ATBM post on your social media! Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and tag me! I’d love to see what your faves are. Until then, pursue that which you love and do it for the glory of God (Col. 3:17).
Happy New Year, Family.
