"Moyo, I dreamt that I saw you in a white coat. I attended your ceremony and you were so happy. Hold on to His promise." My sister-in-Christ and I sat in my car, holding such a deep conversation in the middle of a college parking lot. I wasn't quite sure when, why, or how tears started falling but if ya know me... ya just know lol. You see, the revelation of that dream held so much weight for me. It was literally God telling me, "Hey!!! I see you. Relax, dang."
3 years later, I had the honor of officially donning my white coat as I entered into a new phase – the beginning of my Master's in Nursing.
God has a witty way of carrying us through what seems like the wilderness, the desert, and quite frankly, the very opposite of where we want to be. Take the Israelites for example: God's own people that He had delivered from the hands of the Egyptian Pharaoh. "God did not lead them through the land of the Philistines THOUGH IT WAS THE SHORTEST ROUTE...God "led the people on the wilderness road, looping around to the Red Sea" (Exodus 13: 17-18).
Now, here's the part we all LOVE to hold on to: God parted the Red Sea! *Insert praise break* Butttttt who's really, and I mean reallllllly ready to be taken through the wilderness?
Let's keep it real, I would never willingly volunteer for such a thing lol. I'm sure you wouldn't either. However, God knows us and gives us what we need, when we need it, exactly how we need it. He is Intentional. The same way He carried the Israelites the long way to ultimately reveal His glory is the same way He carries many of us and delivers us from own plans. And yeah, I said delivered because if OUR lives reflected our plans....? whew child, the chaos lol.
I celebrated my white coat with joy for reaching another momentous milestone in the presence of my loved ones. I celebrated because I saw my mother beaming with pride and knew my father was doing the same. I celebrated because I've finally.. finallllllllly learned that the long way isn't the worst way, or a 2nd best way. It can be God's way and if it's God's way, I'm gucci.
To my bruhs and suhs still holding on to a promise God, I may not be able to sit in a car with you like my dear Sena did for me. But, let this serve as the sign or reminder you were looking for that He hasn't forgotten about you. His Word tells us that "His thoughts towards us are precious and outweigh the number of grains of sand" (Psalms 139: 17-18).
So, with all that being said, in the very near future, bring all your children to me!
