HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
I’m beyond excited to enter the year 2016! Along with that, I’m happy to finally share my brainchild and newest endeavor for this year!
Towards the end of 2015, someone very special to me that suggested I listen to Raury. I’d like to think I love music as much as the average person but even I was a bit hesitant to give it a listen. Why though? Raury is what I call a genre-less artist. He makes music that can be classified under anything from hip-hop to soul. A line from Raury’s All We Need title track said, “What do you love? Find it, let it consume you.”
It was pretty amazing how such a simple line resonated within me. What was it that I loved? Was I truly doing that thing? I first had to figure out what I was in love with. What was my real passion and what could I do to ensure that I followed it wholeheartedly? As the year came to a close, I dwelled on these questions and wondered what I could do about it.
I spoke to a few friends that helped me to begin thinking about what I truly wanted to accomplish. I’m thankful for the amazing friends that constantly support my (sometimes outlandish) passions. Major shout outs go to... *insert drumroll* Blessing and Abby! Blessing helped me to develop a blog name that was the right fit. I cranked out SOOO many terrible names lol. I honestly think it took her all of 30 seconds to think of “As Told By Moyo” and I am forever grateful (love you Blebs! xoxo).
Abby, a great friend who recently began her own blog, encouraged me to step out on my own with this site. She has taught me so much in such a short amount of time. Must I add that she did all of this while being halfway around the world in Nigeria? (Check out her blog, Becoming Abi! I know you’ll love it as much as I did.) And of course, I cannot forget all of the people that allowed me to bother them 24/7 about how things looked and felt! And well... that’s how my blog was birthed.
After much thinking, one of my passions is storytelling through personal writings. I’m not quite sure if I have a true passion that lies in one defined box and that could be the reason I identified with Raury. However, journaling and blogging enable me to share my many different interests– maybe to an audience of 1 or 50. Whatever the case may be, I will follow what I love and follow it without regard of what others may think. You should too! I pray as I walk and share the unchartered territories of my life through this blog, that you’ll find something.. anything.. worth inspiring you walk on your path less travelled.
What do you love? Find it. Grow in it. Thrive in it and never look back.
